NJ State Ice Cream Festival To Be Held In Toms River
TOMS RIVER - Need to cool down when the summer becomes "hotter than a cat on a hot tin roof?" No better way than to feast on ice cream at the Fifth Annual New Jersey State Ice Cream Festival in downtown Toms River on July 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The festival will include inflatable rides, street performers and live entertainment. Street performers include a stilt walker, magician, face painter, balloon artist and "Sparks," mascot of the Ocean County Library. Participating in the festivities will be Britney O'Brien, New Jersey State Dairy Princess and her alternate, Caitlyn Merrill, who will both lend a hand serving ice cream and act as judges. On stage, there will be live entertainment by The Garden Statesmen, Yosi and The Superdads, "Waitri" and NUTREN. There will also be an ice cream tasting contest, with ice cream makers, national brands and local favorites all competing for the title of best flavor in New Jersey in four categories. The tastings will be from noon to 3:30 p.m.
Lacey Limo will provide free transportation from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to tour the fine galleries and museums in downtown Toms River.
Festival goers can save on tasting tickets, paying only $5 in advance, by going to the Web site, www.icecreamfest.com, and various Toms River locations including the BID office located at 218 Main Street in Toms River; Modell's Sporting Goods; and Village Florist. Tickets purchased on the day of the event will cost $6 to participate and vote in the People's Choice contest.
