MCAR Urges Residents To Help Stop Proposed Taxes
TINTON FALLS - The Monmouth County Association of REALTORS® is urging all New Jersey residents to learn about the proposed home sales taxes and to contact state legislators to stop them.
The New Jersey Legislature is considering a number of bills which will increase the New Jersey Home Sales Tax or Realty Transfer Fee. These proposed bills (A-3190/S-2643, A-3341, A-3387 and S-2080) will allow local municipalities to charge a tax in addition to the taxes already collected by the state.
Ellen W. Kale, president of the Monmouth County Association of REALTORS® says, The proposed bills will have a detrimental effect on an already strained real estate market. They will increase closing costs and raise home prices while reducing home equity. The effects will be felt by people buying or selling a home from first time home buyers to families to seniors planning for retirement. Residents need to take action before it is too late."
Kale adds that there are petitions the public can sign online or in person as well as letters that can be sent to their state representatives.
