Barnegat Bay Program Offers Grants
TOMS RIVER - The Barnegat Bay National Estuary Program (BBNEP) is soliciting proposals for public education and participation activities focusing on major environmental concerns in the Barnegat Bay Little Egg Harbor estuary and the surrounding watershed.
Projects should: increase public awareness and education; promote stewardship and sustainable behaviors; emphasize the importance of this ecosystem to society; demonstrate how the public can protect the estuary; motivate people to participate in ecosystem restoration; and utilize innovative approaches.
Proposals may address any relevant issue, but are especially encouraged in the following subject areas: nonpoint source pollution prevention, Phase II municipal storm water management, water quality control, estuarine education, citizen monitoring and public participation
Grant awards range from $500 to $7,500. Visit the BBNEP Web site at www.bbnep.org/minigrant. html to download an application package or call the BBNEP office at 732-255- 0472 to request that one be mailed.
