OCEAN COUNTY - Ocean County Freeholder John C. Bartlett Jr. is pleased to announce the following programs being held place at Cattus Island County Park. The programs are accessible to all individuals. Reasonable assistance and accommodations are available with prior notice. For more information, call 732-270-6960.
Bird Feeding Station - On Saturdays and Sundays during February from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., the public can join a naturalist at the bird feeding station in the exhibit room to view hungry migrant and resident birds. Feel free to ask questions regarding the best way to set up your own feeding station at home. Binoculars are a plus, but not required, to enjoy and learn all about our feathered friends.
Reptile Roll Call - Join a naturalist for an up-close and personal look at live turtles and snakes on Saturdays and Sundays during February from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Families will love learning about the lives and times of the Cooper Environmental Center's scaly inhabitants.
Turtle Feeding - On Saturdays and Sundays during February from 1:30 to 2 p.m., a naturalist and youth volunteers will be on hand to feed and care for a variety of turtles while answering all of your questions. Our native turtles include a Diamondback Terrapin, a Box Turtle and a Painted Turtle.
Nature Walks - Their 2 p.m. nature walks offer a fun, educational and interactive look at the wilds of Cattus Island Park, with a specific topic each weekend. Take a break from your daily routine, and get back to basics with a short jaunt through one of Ocean County's best kept secrets.
